Job Description:

The institute is seeking candidates to fill an opening for Principal Investigator in Bioinformatics. Candidates should have a doctorate and outstanding track record in virology related researchwith broad experience in computational biology/bioinformatics and expertise in one or more of the following areas: high throughput sequencing pipelines, functional genomics, databases, mathematical modeling or high-dimensional statistics. Successful applicants will be expected to integrate themselves and their research plan into our growing virology/microbiology and bioinformatics program. The position includes full salary, benefits according to the rules of State and CAS. This position is immediately available, and the closing date is Dec, 31, 2014.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) is a member institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the only institute specializing in virology, viral pathology and virus technology. The research areas of WIV are molecular virology, the etiology and epidemiology of emerging infectious diseases, immuno-virology, analytical pathogenic microbiology, and agricultural and environmental microbiology. WIV also hosts the first national BSL-4 laboratory under construction in China and highlights the key role of the institute in combating emerging infectious diseases. As of 2013, WIV had a staff of 266, including 35 principal investigators and specialists. Among WIV’s personnel are eight chief scientists in charge of national mega-research programs. WIV also has four recipients of the prestigious Distinguished Young Scientist Award and 14 CAS One Hundred Talents Program fellows. WIV has a goal of becoming one of the world’s leading institutions in virological and microbiological research, a training base for scholars in the field, and a powerful engine for biotech transfer by the year 2020.
